Scientist/ Senior Scientist

SpinChip Diagnostics develops a state of the art in vitro diagnostics Point of Care platform. The platform is based on a unique lab-on-a-chip technology where disposable cartridges with incorporated chemistry are processed by a small instrument. The core elements of the instrument include an advanced microcentrifuge processing of the lab-on-a-chip cartridges and two optical readout systems. The company’s initial focus is on cardiac markers with troponin as the pilot application.

The company is seeking talented Chemists/Biotechnologists/Engineers to join its expanding multi-disciplinary team currently consisting of eleven employees. The positions will be within Assay Development.

Main fields of responsibilities

The positions will cover work within assay development where assay optimization, standardization and reagent stabilization are core focus. In this hands-on role you will:

  • Plan and perform experiments in order to develop immunoassays on the SpinChip platform and lead sub-projects
  • Handle and process blood samples
  • Test and optimize assay in SpinChip lab-on-a-chip cartridges
  • Develop calibration methods
  • Document experimental work in lab journals and work according to Design Control/ISO13485
  • Contribute to establishing standard operating procedures

Qualifications & experience

Candidates should hold a higher degree in chemistry or biotechnology (MSc, PhD) and preferably have 5-10+ years of relevant experience from a similar industry. Candidates with relevant chemistry or biotechnology bachelor degree or bioengineering degree with minimum 5-10 years relevant experience may be considered.

Technical skills

We are seeking colleagues who are skilled in:

  • Immunoassay development and reagent formulation
  • Blood analysis
  • Stabilization of reagents, including nano- and microparticles
  • Protein chemistry and antibody modification
  • Surface chemistry
  • Microfluidics
  • Analytical method development
  • Fluorescence detection
  • Data analysis (image analysis) & statistics

and who has:

  • Experience with practical development work and thrives with hands-on laboratory work
  • Industrial R&D experience - ideally from in vitro diagnostics - with a track record in delivering on project goals
  • The capability of working systematically and documenting the work accordng to the strict regulatory requirements applied to the development of in vitro diagnostics/medical devices.
  • The ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and understand and interact with colleagues working within Instrument and Cartridge development
